Mary J. Blige’s $12.3M New Jersey House Sold At A Loss For $5.5 Million

Mary J. Blige's $12.3M New Jersey House Sold At A Loss For $5.5 Million

With the soulful singer’s recent Icon Award at BBMA and 6 Grammy nominations from her latest album, Good Morning Gorgeous, Mary J. Blige won’t probably feel the sting of the eventful sale.

Significant Price Drop Seals the Deal for Mary J. Blige’s Swanky Châteauesque Mansion

Sold at $5.5 Million half the dough from its original price of $12.3 million way back in 2008, the mega mansion of hip hop icon Mary J. Blige Saddle was a bargain, to say the least. The “Remind Me Singer” turned over an 18,250 square feet French-style mansion with 3 levels accessed by a private elevator. The mansion is also surrounded by 4.2-acre woodlands. The 6-car garage is not only the caviar to the property though.

A Welcoming Grand Entryway

Living room with a fireplace

As one steps into the châteauesque mansion, an impressive foyer greets guests with its vertical expanse and marbled flooring. The sweeping wrought iron staircase makes its way up to the upper floors, which leads to a gallery and several en-suite bedrooms. Straight ahead of the foyer is the grand living room marked by the elegant arch that spans between classic ionic columns. The walls boast elaborate but polished French moldings, traceries, and friezes emphasized by the ivory hues and a beige-colored backdrop. This receiving space is grounded by a herringbone-patterned wood floor bringing in a more relaxed and inviting ambiance. Aside from the main living room, the first floor brings guests to other living and dining rooms transitioned by smaller archways from the main living room—each social space with its own fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows.

An Impressive Gourmet Kitchen

The luxury home has a gorgeous gourmet kitchen complete with high-end appliances, custom cabinetry, and two center islands. The eye-catching feature in the expansive kitchen is the highly crafted built-in cabinets that showcase the intricate wood carvings of minute details, elaborate vintage inlays, linenfolds, and moldings that give away that European opulence.

The open plan allows ease of accessibility in between rooms, and the formal dining is conveniently in view and easily trotted from the gourmet kitchen. This dining room, just adjacent to the kitchen, is sectioned from the rest of the floor on a circular plan allowing an almost 180-view of the outdoor estate. Without breaking the continuous flow of the open plan, the dining area can be opened through two sets of double French doors that lead to the expansive garden. These windows also allow natural light to drench through the rooms with ventilation as a treat during the warmer months. The dining area is also adjacent to the living space, bounded by a double-sided fireplace.

Upper Floors to the Bedrooms and En-suite Bathrooms

The upper floors have two sections, the master suite and the other wing for family and guest bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own spa-like bathroom en-suites, particularly the master bedroom with its soaking tub and oversized shower area.

Outdoor Amenities

Completing the luxury retreat is the outdoor pool, spa area, and a full-service cabana. A covered patio provides an extension of the living spaces with a built-in grill and outdoor fireplace. Additional guest bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are conveniently provided separately from the main building.

Suburban Neighborhood and the Surrounding Countryside

Mary J. Blige’s home listing is situated in one of the best places in New Jersey, known for its large estates and good schools with a sparse suburban feel. A perfect residence for celebrities, athletes, and retirees who long for a quiet environment that’s just 25 miles from Manhattan.

Other property owned by Mary J. Blige

Another Mary J. Blige home listing is the contemporary suburban mansion also found in the New Jersey state. This Cresskill, NJ, may have fallen into despair, but amazingly the price was boldly increased from $2.25 million in 2019 to $3 million after just two years. The property may have an unassuming façade, but it is another sprawling mansion with more than 7,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, 3 fireplaces, guest bedrooms, and a gym.
